Call for Expressions of Interest to apply for a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship in the field of migration and organizational studies or organizational psychology at BI Norwegian Business School, Department of Leadership and Organizational Behaviour

The Department of Leadership and Organizational Behaviour at BI Norwegian Business School (BI) currently invites researchers outside of Norway to apply for a two-year EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF).
This highly regarded fellowship gives candidates the opportunity to pursue a two-year research project as part of the department and under the supervision of an experienced professor within the field.
Eligible candidates must hold a PhD, have a maximum of 8 years of research experience from the time the PhD was awarded, and cannot have lived or worked in Norway for 12 months or more over the past three years.
About the Department of Leadership and Organizational Behaviour
The Department of Leadership and Organizational Behaviour has its core competence within organizational psychology, management of change, organization management, and project management. It is divided into three faculty groups: Leadership, change and sustainability, project management, and organizational psychology. The department places emphasis on the interaction between research and teaching. For faculty members, this means publishing in top academic journals, while also communicating their research in their teaching. The department delivers teaching at all academic levels, and offers courses in most of BI’s study programmes, including Executive Master of Management, MSc, EMBA, PhD and Bachelor of Management. It is currently home to approximately 47 full-time academic faculty and 16 PhD students.
We invite candidates with intersectional expertise in the field of migration and organization studies or organizational psychology, to apply for a two-year EU-funded MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF-2023). With natural and man-made disasters around the world, many highly skilled individuals are having to migrate away from the economically and politically unstable contexts they built their careers in. While their home countries end up suffering from consequential brain drain, highly skilled migrants present extremely valuable opportunities for host countries. A significant number of highly skilled non-European migrants have migrated and continue to migrate to European countries, many of which need highly skilled foreign workers to counter the shortages emanating from aging populations. While several European countries have implemented skill-selective labour migration policies to attract highly skilled migrants, many highly skilled migrants remain unable to penetrate the workforce and play the active economic and societal role they potentially can play. Candidates applying for the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship will use advanced qualitative methods and methodologies, adopting a multi-stakeholder perspective, to better understand: the barriers impeding highly skilled migrants from penetrating the workforce in host countries; the effectiveness of existing national policies and initiatives; and what critical junctures can help with the inclusion and integration of highly skilled migrants in European host countries. The candidate should be interested in migration and highly skilled migration, its economic and social impact, as well as mobilizing a multiplicity of stakeholders from activists, practitioners, and policymakers to strengthen the societal impact of this academic research.
The successful candidate will be supervised by Associate Professor of Organizational Psychology, Lina Daouk-Öyry. Daouk-Öyry’s research lies at the intersection of people, management, organization and society. She is a 'context sensitive' researcher with expertise in the cross-cultural context of the Arab MENA, the healthcare sector, and extreme contexts where crises and disasters predominate. Her approach is interdisciplinary and translational, focused on mobilizing partnerships between researchers, practitioners, NGOs, and activists across fields and creating multiple forms of scholarly outputs that better integrate research findings with societal impact. She is the founder of the national level ADILLA mentorship programmes, which have translated research findings into a capacity building programme for healthcare managers across hospitals in Lebanon. Daouk-Öyry is the recipient of the 2020 Distinguished Scholar Award from the Arab Fund for Social and Economic Development and her scholarly activism work has been recognised by AACSB as innovations that inspire. Daouk-Öyry is an advocate of women's and LGBTQ+ rights and has collaborated on multiple multi-stakeholder mobilization projects advocating for economic and workplace inclusion of these marginalized groups.

The Expressions of Interest will be evaluated internally at BI and candidates will be selected for full application development, including participating in the MSCA-PF Master Class hosted in April 2023. The selected candidates will develop their MSCA-PF applications in collaboration with their BI supervisor and with the support from the team for external financing at BI. The deadline for submitting the full MSCA-PF proposal is mid-September 2023.
