Call for Expressions of Interest to apply for a MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship at BI Norwegian Business School, Centre for Applied Macroeconomics and Commodity Prices (CAMP)

Deadline for Expressions of Interest: 27 February 2023

The Centre for Applied Macroeconomics and Commodity Prices (CAMP) at BI Norwegian Business School (BI) currently invites researchers outside of Norway to apply for a two-year EU-funded Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF).

This highly regarded fellowship gives candidates the opportunity to pursue a two-year research project as part of the centre and under the supervision of an experienced professor within the field.

Eligible candidates must hold a PhD, have a maximum of 8 years of research experience from the time the PhD was awarded, and cannot have lived or worked in Norway for 12 months or more over the past three years.

About CAMP

CAMP is a research centre at the Department of Economics, BI, and is financed by the Research Council of Norway and Equinor’s research programme on energy economics. The centre brings together economists working on applied macroeconomic issues, with special emphasis on energy economics. Its objectives are to advance research and post-graduate training in relevant fields.

CAMP has a strong commitment to research. Faculty members and associates at CAMP regularly publish their research in highly ranked international journals and are often mentioned in both international and national media. The centre has a large international network and regularly invites leading international scholars to hold seminars and courses with special emphasis on energy economics and methodology.

Candidate qualifications

CAMP invites candidates with a strong quantitative background and interest in economics/finance, data science, and econometrics to apply for a two-year EU-funded MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF-2023). The candidate will use data science and quantitative methods to increase our understanding of macroeconomic developments from a predictive and/or causal perspective. We value creativity and good programming and communication skills. The candidate should be interested in doing research on applied macroeconomics, providing both methodological and economic contributions to the existing literature. Themes related to, e.g., energy markets, structural change, and economic policy are of particular relevance.

The successful candidate will be supervised by Professor and CAMP manager, Leif Anders Thorsrud. Thorsrud obtained his PhD at BI Norwegian Business School in 2014. His research has been published in top international journals, and his area of expertise includes time series analysis, high-dimensional statistics, business cycles, energy economics, and monetary and fiscal economics. His current research agenda centers on how text as data can be used to understand and predict economic fluctuations. Thorsrud has previously worked as a data scientist and Senior Researcher in Norges Bank and the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Application procedure
